About ellenbooks
Clyde, Ohio, where I grew up the daughter of artists, was the setting for Sherwood Anderson’s Winesburg, Ohio. That might explain why stories kidnapped me at such a young age. After several years of doing other things — from selling souvenirs to cleaning apartments — and completing a bachelor’s degree at Denison University in Ohio, I returned to campus at Bowling Green State University where I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing.
In 1993 I received an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Grant, enabling me to finish None But the Dead and Dying, which was published in 1996 by Baskerville Publishers. In 2010 I self-published Road Tales: Short Stories About Full-Time RVing, which has been well-received in the RV community.
aLearning: A Trail Guide to Association eLearning was published in 2009 and was followed up in 2012 with the Top 100 Posts from the aLearning Blog. Providing support to the association and non-profit learning community through these publications, the aLearning blog, articles and other resources has been an important part of my life since my tenure as a learning leader at a national association from late 2004 until the spring of 2009.
Blogging has been a natural extension of these other writing endeavors. The aLearning Blog (http://alearning.wordpress.com) and Bob and Ellen’s Great RV Adventure (http://bobandellen.worpdress.com) have attracted readers and followers from all over the globe.
This, the ellenbooks Blog, is a companion blog to the www.ellenbooks.com Web site, focusing on writing, self-publishing, related topics. Descriptions and reviews of the books mentioned here can be found on the Web site.
My short works have appeared in numerous periodicals and a few anthologies, and my nonfiction articles have also been widely published. I’ve been honored to be listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Women, and Who’s Who in Education.
